Spirulina and Brain Health: What We Know
An evidence-aware overview of spirulina in brain-health supplements and why nutrient density alone does not prove cognitive benefits.

What spirulina is
Spirulina is a nutrient-rich cyanobacteria used as a food ingredient and dietary supplement.
Nutrients are not automatic nootropics
Providing protein, micronutrients or antioxidant compounds does not by itself demonstrate improved memory or focus in a person with adequate nutrition.
Quality matters
Algae-based supplements require attention to sourcing and quality control because contamination is a meaningful product-quality concern.
In multi-ingredient products
The best question is whether the actual finished product has transparent amounts and relevant evidence, not simply whether spirulina appears on the label.
